Upgrade the KV store server version

Splunk Enterprise versions 10.6 and higher do not use any previous KV store server versions. Instead, immediately after upgrading to Splunk Enterprise 10.6, your deployment is automatically upgraded to a new cohosted KV store. This upgrade is mandatory in Splunk Enterprise 10.6 and higher.

If you currently have Splunk Enterprise version 10.2 or 10.4, and a KV store server version 7.0 or higher, then your KV store is ready to for you to upgrade to Splunk Enterprise 10.6. You do not need to upgrade your KV server version any more.

If you currently have KV store version 4.2 or lower, you must upgrade to KV store server version 7.0 or higher before upgrading to Splunk Enterprise 10.6.

  • In Splunk Enterprise 9.4, 10.0, and 10.2, KV store server version 4.2 is deprecated. In Splunk Enterprise 10.4, KV store server version 4.2 is removed. This is a breaking change.
  • If you are still using KV store server version 4.2, see Upgrade the KV store server version in the Splunk Enterprise 10.0 documentation for instructions on how to upgrade to server version 7.0 or higher before you attempt to upgrade to Splunk Enterprise 10.4 or higher.

If you currently have Splunk Enterprise 10.0 or lower, you must upgrade to Splunk Enterprise 10.2 or higher before upgrading to Splunk Enterprise 10.6.
